Taking the mountain

El Shaddai - the All Sufficient One
Let's pick up the story where we left off yesterday. Abraham and Sarah had their names changed and a promise of a son and numerous descendants. Abraham laughs when he hears the promises that God whispers. A son? He is 99 years old. His wife is as old as dirt (LSV) and no longer menstruating. To top it all off, Abraham, and all of the males are asked to enter into a covenant and cut their flesh: circumcision. The very thing that Abraham will need to "get the job done" - God asks him to cut. In the flesh - there was NO WAY this could all come together to form a child, much less a nation.
God calls us to look to Him and to believe in Him alone. I am sure that as Abraham and Sarah started walking out these promises, mountains of disbelief rose in front of them....yet, they walked on in obedience. God whispering in their ears, "Trust in me, not in your flesh, and not in what you see".
Perhaps you are walking today and there are mountains of physical problems, ailments and mountains of disbelief rising up on your horizon. Your flesh screams of the impossibilities in this trial. You look at the mountain and see your own barrenness and the limitations of your flesh. Trust in El Shaddai today - that All Sufficient One. Take the hand of your Savior and fix your eyes on Him.
Perhaps, you just cant see it from your present perspective....a small, intimate footpath meandering around the mountain? A footpath designed for only two. Perhaps that looming mountain is not meant to be walked over- perhaps there is another way...yet, we concentrate it and we make it bigger each moment- through our fear and apprehension. The mountain becomes the focus of our attention. Stop looking at the horizon, trying to figure out what is coming...look into the eyes of a God that adores you and trust in Him...one step at a time.
He may be calling you to the mountain today...he may need you to take the mountain. He may be calling you to the very wilderness of your heart- that needs to be overwhelmed by the presence of God. Trust in Him..."My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." If HE is calling you to the mountain today - He will get you over the mountain! It will not be your flesh that takes the mountain - it will be through the power and grace of God.
The best hiking advice I ever got: Don't concentrate on the mountain. Look at your feet...the mountain is taken one step at a time. One small victory- at a time- takes the mountain. My advice to you today - if you are called to the mountain- look at Him. Wait to hear the gentle leading of your Spirit. Don't trample ahead of Him, and don't lag behind. There is an arm around you guiding you through he brambles and the traps....one step at a time- He will lead you over your mountain.

Lord, I pray that each of the women in our groups today - would stop focusing on their trials and their mountains, and start focusing on YOUR strength. Through you we are made strong. I pray that each woman would have revelation that breathes into their circumstances and situations. I pray discernment for the path that you would have them take, I pray that meandering footpaths be revealed. I pray intimacy into their walks, that they would be dependant on you, walk in obedience to the pull on their hearts and that mountains of disbelief would crumple under your loving gaze. All power on heaven and earth belong to you...in you, we are free.
