Surrender

Today Abraham arrives at his Mount Moriah. Remember that this is a mountainous region...like the appalachians. God led Abraham and Isaac to their mount Moriah- the place they would have to completely die to self. They would have to give up every expectation and every preconceived notion. They would have to lay their hearts in Jehovah's hands and trust in His faithfulness.
God has been moving in my heart and speaking to me about my own mountain I have to die on. The places where I have to let go of everything I thought I understood, let go every aspect of my nature, and trust Him.
Has He revealed your mountain? Has He revealed the place you have to surrender to Him?
Lets pick up the story at the base of the mountain. Abraham brought 2 servants and a donkey with him- they were left behind, at the base of the mountain. God was very specific, that it was to be JUST Abraham and Isaac.
And that is where we will pause for today.
Just Abraham and Isaac went up on their mountain.
Here's the thing that God is laying on my heart today. There are times that He speaks- and He wants instant obedience. He wants us to trust Him - through the fire and through the trial...and to alk it out- With our eyes on HIM>.
We could get lost asking our friends what they think.
We could get sidetracked with trying to figure out God's intentions
WE could be frozen in fear
We could get lost in analyzing and thinking
We could run into the "Fix it room" and try to figure out a different way.
We could twist God's request to suit our purposes- to keep it comfortable and to keep us from stretching outside of our boundaries and safe zone.
WE could give up before we even start
WE could say NO - its too hard, I'm too small- You, God, are too big
Ultimately- we could get lost in excuses. How it must grieve the heart of God, when He calls to HIs children- and they start spinning around in circles- with excuses. Imagine a dog chasing his tail...and satan mocking us - as we get lost in the chronicles of self and doubt.
What if.......
*We asked God about His request - prayed, while walking it out? (Abraham walked 3 days through his wilderness- to get to the mountain) His heart was in obedience to God - as he walked, I can only imagine the inner dialogue he was having with God - each and every step - bathed in prayer.
What if.......
*WE walked WITHOUT KNOWING THE FINAL OUTCOME??? Sometimes He meets us at one step of obedience at a time. You must take the first step for Him to give you the second step.
What if.......
*We denied fear its stronghold and choose to put on the full spiritual armor of God - and walk out in His authority?
What if.......
*We stopped over analyzing and let FAITH blossom up into our hearts? Analyzing will never take the place of FAITH...at some point you have to step off the mountain to fly- no matter how long you look at the air and the clouds and think of the air pressure and wind currents, topographical and geographical locations in reference to the proximity of the mountain and the speed of descent......stand there and think about all of that - and you will never feel the rush of the wind under you wings and through your spirit. At some point- you have to stop analyzing and JUMP>
What if.......
We closed the Fix IT Room. The Fix It Room is so alluring...it holds such promise and intrigue in our flesh. The way that we Fix IT - will never, ever, EVER bring the satisfaction and surrender that giving into God does. Our Fix IT Rooms will never satisfy, will never glorify God, will never walk out our destinies. They are booby traps to get us lost in circles ...nothing more. We cant FIX anything - but satan lures uns into that room to distract us from God's purpose in our lives.
What if.......
*We trusted God in the trials, and were ok with coloring outside the lines, living outside our comfort zones? I always say it - I think we find God outside the lines. I think we have our greatest God moments when we allow Him to stretch us and mold us to His will. Stretching is uncomfortable - but it always comes with INCREASE of Him and a DECREASE of us..
What if.......
*We didn't give into a spirit of discouragement. It never fails - the SECOND He starts to bubble up a dream - a spirit of discouragement will come along and try to pop that dream. How many dreams die before they even get born? What if we denied the spirit of discouragement and chose to walk out the dream?
What if.......
*We realized that we were children of GOD. We have a divine inheritance! We are not too small to do anything - because we have the King of Kings with us, in us and for us! Stand up, daughters of the King - and look the world in the eye- you were made to do great things for the kingdom!!
Abraham took his son- and started to ascent up the mountain. He didn't know what would meet him at the top of that mountain - but he had a faith in his God - that protected him with each step through the trial. Is there something that God is calling you to?
Take a step of faith today- and let Him overwhelm you with His presence.
